The French Issue
That is way too limited... video calls will take off as a mean of communications once the killer applications out there start to get traction and more importantly, once operatiors and service providers start investing in marketing to let customers know that there are killer applications out there... example:
- Securitas Direct in Spain: security application: now subscribers can access their homes, offices, plants etc just by placing a video call! Not only that: you can control the camera and get audio feeds from the remote site.
- CTM: the mobile operator in Macau
- ESI Hong Kong: realtime stock quotes
- OO Telecom: Hong Kong: dating
- Cestel Spain www.cestel.com
- Celudan Spain: www.celudan.com
- www.i6net.com
and these are just a few sample apps that show that 3G video calls go well beyond the 1 to 1 call in fact, video calls may be even more important in the applications / service provider space! Also, with the recent addition of Asterisk as a viable 3G - 324M gateway, the last barrier has been eliminated: price!!!
