Japan's reality is our future and in few years we will see VoIP over mobile data connections everywhere.

The latest strategic report from Informa Telecoms & Media called “Future Mobile Broadband: Revenue Opportunities for HSPA to LTE, EV-DO to UMB & WiMAX” suggests that mobile broadband is set to explode. According to Informa’s researchers, mobile broadband will represent close to half of total mobile service revenues in 2012. Revenues from mobile broadband services will generate more than $400 billion globally by 2012.

Or to put in other words, sooner or later carriers WILL become dumb pipes - for VoIP and other applications. Truphone is already counting on that with their latest 3G optimized client. VoIP over HSDPA sounds great, and for laptop use we even get flatrates in Germany. Jajah knows that and prepares in Japan.
